Relation between the parents of married people, the parents of the husband being "ang mga baláye" to the parents of the wife and vice versa; to be related in that way. Nagabaláye silá. They are the parents of husband and wife respectively.

The relationship between the parents of the bride and the parents of the bridegroom before the marriage of the young couple; to stand in such a relationship or to make efforts to bring it about, to woo for, be a match-maker or go-between, ask for the hand of a young lady on behalf of her admirer.
